An Associate Professor at the Edo State-owned Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, Prof. Blessing Idonije who was kidnapped by gunmen on the 13th of April 2021 and regained freedom after 5 days, has narrated his ordeal at the hands of his abductors.
Narrating his ordeal in the hands of his abductors to Olika Reporters News publishers, Idonije vividly identified his abductors as Fulani killer Herdsmen.
According to the Professor of medical (clinical) Biochemistry, “First and foremost, I must thank God Almighty for coming out alive from this ordeal , and I must appreciate my family and friends who stood up to ensure that my freedom was secured”.
Olika Reporters News recalled how the professor, Prof. B.O Idonije was abducted on his way to Ekpoma from Sabo-Ozalla axis of Edo State in the evening of April 13th.
Olika Reporters News also gathered that he was abducted alongside two others, leading them into the bush through the Sobe/lfon area near the boundary of Ondo State. He was there for 5 days without food, except water.
The Professor of Clinical Biochemistry also revealed to our correspondent how he was tortured for two days, until his wife pleaded with his abductors to stop torturing him.
Dr. Mike Obasuyi, the victim close associate, who was part of those who coordinated his release said, “He was lucky they didn’t harm him. “His abductors initially demanded for 10 Million Naira ransom, but after a lot of negotiations, they finally agreed for 5 Million Naira which was paid in cash. He was finally released on Sunday 18th In the Evening”.
Olika Reporters News specifically asked the victim about the identity of his abductors in order to ascertain their identity. Responding to that, the obviously excited Prof affirmed that those who kidnapped him were Fulani Herdsmen.
His words: “Yes, They were all Fulani killer herdsmen with sophisticated weapons, them and it was easy for me to recognize their tribe by their looks and the language they spoke”, he added.
